Representation in criminal law matters, ranging from DUI, misdemeanor offenses, traffic tickets, and felonies, is essential. Defendants are expected to understand their rights whether or not they are represented. Without an attorney, a Defendant may be led into waiving their rights, and even pleading guilty to offenses unproven and unsubstantiated.
Our criminal justice system is an adversary system. That means the State’s Attorney’s job is to prove you guilty of the charge brought against you. They may charge offenses that are difficult or impossible to prove, & seek unreasonable punishments and fines. You cannot expect the State's Attorney to be helpful to you in court.
As your attorneys, you can expect us to appear in court on your behalf, acquire and review all evidence, conduct investigation into the facts of your case, negotiate with the prosecution. If necessary or desired, we will conduct a trial, and put forward the strong defense you deserve. It is our goal to get you the best result possible. Sometimes that means negotiating to obtain the best plea agreement possible, or if not possible, representing you at trial to hold the state to its burden of proof: beyond a reasonable doubt.
